This work recontextualises and arranges personal and intimate experiences with art historical references to address how motherhood, domesticity, and creative practice are, for me, reciprocal and ultimately entangled. The work arranges various representations of women from the perspective of a male gaze thus re-presenting them as subject rather than object. There’s a female figure appropriated from a Guido Maestri painting titled Dream Brother (2022), a detail of a domestic scene from a Vuillard painting, an abstracted nude from Picasso’s Nude in a Garden (1934), a mother holding a child from Bob Thompson’s blue Mother and Child (1965).
