Vipoo's sculpture Master of Shadows is included in Sculpture on the Farm, an art prize celebrating contemporary Australian sculpture in a unique regional setting - Dungog Common Recreation Reserve.
'Master of Shadows is inspired by the bat, a symbol of good luck and fortune in Chinese culture.
In Chinese, the word for bat sounds similar to the word for "blessing," so bats are often seen as representing happiness and prosperity. The bat king at the top of this sculpture stands for the five blessings—long life, wealth, health, love of virtue, and peaceful death.
The souls below are on the path to renewal and transformation, guided by the bat king.
