Tom Blake is included in Near at Hand: Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial 2026. His inclusion brings together leaves in a stream (index) (2025) and leaves in a stream (2025), two works that explore the delicate forms of leaves through distinct materials and processes.
In leaves in a stream (index), Blake works with a hand-etched de-silvered mirror and light box, while leaves in a stream is realised as a cyanotype with an artist-made brass frame. Across both works, the artist transforms simple botanical forms through light, reflection and mark-making, inviting close attention to their subtle and shifting qualities.
Bringing together 11 artists from across Australia, the exhibition explores drawing’s capacity for intimate expression. Supported by the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation, the exhibition is presented at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
