Selected for the exhibition, Zanko's work reflects his ongoing engagement with the Australian landscape. Through a considered approach to colour, light and atmosphere, the work captures a quiet sense of place, inviting contemplation of the shifting relationship between memory, observation and the natural environment.
Presented annually by the S.H. Ervin Gallery, Salon des Refusés showcases a curated selection of outstanding works entered into the Archibald and Wynne Prizes that were not included in the official exhibitions, celebrating the breadth, diversity and experimentation of contemporary Australian art.
