‘We all carry an invisible collection through life: quiet hopes, recurring worries, family ties, and the shifting versions of who we are. The pieces do not simply reflect what we carry; they offer a quiet and lasting anchor for the things that shape us and matter most.’
In The Things We Keep, Vipoo Srivilasa gives form to the quiet things we carry through life: hopes held close, worries that return, relationships that sustain us, and memories that remain. Working with ceramics and mixed media, he creates sculptures that hold something of our inner lives, making tangible what can be difficult to put into words.
Tenderness and gentle humour run through the exhibition, offering an affectionate recognition of who we are. The worrier, dreamer, worker, lover, and believer find a place here, each carrying qualities we might recognise in ourselves or someone we love. Srivilasa approaches these characters with generosity, finding care beneath worry, a rich inner world within solitude, and dignity in the steady effort of continuing.
Through family, belonging, and memory, the works speak to our need to feel understood. They invite us to look kindly upon the parts of ourselves we sometimes struggle to accept, and to recognise the strength they may quietly hold. Each sculpture becomes a companion: something to live alongside, to return to, and to find comfort in as life changes around us.
